Advocacy of the Rights of Women with Disabilities

Goal
Supporting the empowerment of the organization of women with disabilities in order to promote the development of the movement of disabled women in Georgia and their inclusion in the national development programmes.
Geographic area: Tbilisi, Guria and Adjara regions.
Result
- The capacities of the organization is improved with the qualified human resources for conducting advocacy and monitoring as well as various social media activities through using the effective methods of communication;
- The integrated club of women is established in order to promote the resocialization and gender equality of women (girls) with disabilities;
- The strategy document of the organization for 2014-2017 has been adopted, defining the two following strategic goals: a) empowering young women with disabilities for conducting self-advocacy of their own rights; b) supporting women (girls) with disabilities for ensuring the implementation of their rights to healthcare, including sexual and reproductive rights, on an equal basis;
- Self-advocacy of the civil and political rights of women with disabilities was started during the pre-election period for the local elections of 2014. The discussions with women candidates from Guria and Adjara regions have been conducted.
